Questions worth asking any electrician

Straight answers on pricing, licensing, permits and warranty so you know what you are signing up for.

Do you warranty your work?

Yes. Our workmanship is warrantied, and the equipment we install carries the manufacturer's warranty on top of that. If something we installed fails, call us and we come back out. We put the warranty terms in writing on the quote so nothing depends on memory.

How does an electrician charge, hourly or by the job?

We quote by the job, not by the hour, so the number you approve is the number you pay unless you change the scope. Hourly billing puts the risk of a slow diagnosis on you; flat pricing puts it on us. For open-ended troubleshooting we quote the diagnostic first, then the repair once we know the cause.

Do you charge for a diagnostic or service call?

There is a diagnostic fee for troubleshooting visits, quoted before we drive out, and it covers the time to actually find the fault rather than guess at it. If you approve the repair, that fee gets applied to the work. Quotes on planned projects like panel upgrades, EV chargers and remodels are free.

Are you licensed and insured in Utah, and can I verify it?

Yes. Tactical Electrical Services, LLC is a licensed and insured Utah electrical contractor, and every license is verifiable through the Utah Division of Professional Licensing (DOPL). We carry general liability and workers compensation, and we send certificates of insurance to commercial clients and property managers on request.

Will a master electrician be on my job?

Our work is master-led. A master electrician oversees the scope, the design and the code compliance on every project, and is on site when the job calls for it. Day to day work is performed by experienced electricians who have each completed a four year apprenticeship, with 50+ years of combined experience on the team.

Who pulls the permit and deals with the inspection?

We do. We pull the permit with your city or county, schedule the inspection, and coordinate any Rocky Mountain Power disconnect or reconnect. You do not call the utility or the building department. Skipping permits on panel, service and generator work causes problems at resale and can void an insurance claim, so we do not do unpermitted work that requires one.

How soon can you get out to my property?

Most service and troubleshooting calls are scheduled within a few business days, and we hold slots for power loss, burning smells, and equipment that has taken a building offline. Larger projects like service upgrades depend on permit and utility scheduling, which we lay out in the quote so the timeline is not a surprise.

Do you work with homeowners, businesses and general contractors?

All three. We handle residential service, remodels and upgrades, ongoing commercial maintenance and service for critical building equipment, and industrial work. We also work as a subcontractor for general contractors and property managers, including scheduled preventive maintenance and multi-site service agreements.

What if another electrician already looked at it and could not find the problem?

That is the work we are known for. Intermittent faults, nuisance trips, and equipment that drops power without an obvious cause get traced with clamp meters, insulation resistance testing and thermal imaging instead of parts swapping. Bring us the history of what has already been replaced; it narrows the search.

What areas do you serve?

Salt Lake County, Davis County and the Park City area, from our base in West Jordan. That includes Salt Lake City, West Jordan, Sandy, South Jordan, Draper, Murray, West Valley City, Bountiful, Layton, Farmington, Kaysville and the surrounding cities.
