Commercial Troubleshooting

Commercial electrical troubleshooting in Salt Lake City

The faults that shut down operations and nobody can find. Nuisance trips, phase loss, voltage drop, harmonics and equipment that fails only under load, isolated with instruments and documented when we are done.

Licensed & insured

Utah licensed electrical contractor with Master-level scoping on every project.

Diagnostics first

We test and prove the fault before anything gets replaced, so you pay for the fix.

Scheduled around you

Clear arrival windows Monday through Friday, 8 to 5, and a crew that cleans up.

Permits handled

Permits, utility coordination and inspection sign-off taken care of for you.

Commercial Troubleshooting

What we get called in for

Usually after someone else replaced parts. Bring us the history of what has been changed and we will start from what is measurable.

Intermittent Faults

Failures that only appear under load, at temperature or on one shift, captured with monitoring and load testing.

Phase Loss & Imbalance

Single-phasing, unbalanced loads and voltage drop measured at the source, the feeder and the equipment.

Nuisance Tripping

Breakers, GFPs and motor overloads that trip without an obvious cause traced to the actual fault.

Thermal Imaging

Hot lugs, failing breakers and overloaded conductors located without a shutdown.

Motor & Drive Circuits

Starters, contactors, overloads, VFD faults and control circuits diagnosed with the mechanical side in mind.

Findings Report

You get what we measured, what failed and what we recommend, in writing, with photos.

How we run a commercial diagnostic

Fast fault isolation is a process, not a hunch. It starts with history and ends with a measurement that proves the cause.

  1. 1
    History and symptoms

When it happens, what runs at that moment, what has already been replaced and what changed before it started.

  2. 2
    Instrument the circuit

Clamp readings under load, voltage recording, insulation resistance and thermal scanning at the panel and the equipment.

  3. 3
    Isolate

We divide the system and test rather than replacing components, so the answer is proven and not assumed.

  4. 4
    Correct and document

The fault is repaired, the circuit is verified under real load, and you receive the findings for your records.

Commercial Troubleshooting FAQs

Commercial troubleshooting questions

How do you bill troubleshooting?+

Diagnostics are billed as their own scope with an approved not-to-exceed. Repairs are quoted separately once the cause is known, so you are never paying for a repair aimed at a guess.

Can you troubleshoot without shutting down the line?+

Often yes. Thermal imaging, clamp readings and monitoring all happen energized. When a shutdown is genuinely required we schedule it around production.

Our breaker trips once a week with no pattern. Where do you start?+

With logging. A recording meter left on the circuit through several cycles turns an invisible intermittent into data, which is far cheaper than replacing equipment repeatedly.

Do you work on 480V three-phase systems?+

Yes. 208V and 480V three-phase distribution, switchgear, motor circuits and VFD-fed equipment are routine work for us.

Another contractor could not find it. Will you take the call?+

That is most of this work. Knowing what has already been eliminated genuinely helps, so send the history along with the call.
